2011 Food For AllŪ |
History |
In 1985, widespread famine in Ethiopia sparked a worldwide humanitarian response. On behalf of the United States food industry, a group of visionary executives founded the Food Industry Crusade Against Hunger (FICAH) to provide assistance and relief to those affected. Collaborating with wholesale food distributors, FICAH funded grassroots initiatives that fostered self-help, sustainable solutions to ending hunger. In the years that followed, FICAH invested in non-governmental organizations that fundamentally changed their communities by investing in simple technology, micro-credit lending programs, animal husbandry programs and similar efforts. Concurrently, a grassroots, Southern California non-profit called Food For All was working on similar initiatives. FICAH and Food For All merged in 1997, and today Food Industry Crusade Against Hunger is publicly known as Food For All. |
