About Us

In the winter of 1985, as snow pelted their Colorado cabin, a group of food
industry executives sat inside discussing the devastating famine
that was plaguing Northern Africa. These visionaries realized that getting the
U.S. food industry involved in raising money and awareness about this ravaging
epidemic would prove fruitful. And indeed, they were correct. They dubbed
their cause "The Food Industry Crusade Against Hunger"(FICAH)
and began working with wholesale distributors to fundraise for international
anti-hunger organizations. FICAH not only wanted to provide famine relief, but
they focused on supporting organizations that promoted self-help, sustainable solutions to ending hunger. Around the same time, some activists in Southern California were embarking on a grassroots campaign to raise money for similar
anti-hunger initiatives. They called themselves "FOOD FOR ALL."
After years of working for a very similar cause, FICAH and FOOD FOR ALL eventually merged in 1997, and today the organization is simply known as
"FOOD FOR ALL." Currently, FOOD FOR ALL supports international, self-help programming as well as national and local food banks, food rescue
organizations and health-promotion programs.
